An Uberti 1866 carbine in .45 Colt, serial W21712, from modern production with a 19-inch barrel. It is a brass-framed cowboy carbine in the 1866 pattern, and the supplier rates it excellent. The brass frame and short barrel are what make the 1866 pattern recognizable at a glance.

Texas cowboy action matches are where this carbine fits best, paired with a .45 Colt single action so one cartridge feeds both. The 19-inch barrel swings fast between targets and carries easily in a saddle scabbard or a truck. The .45 Colt is a centerfire cartridge and therefore legal for deer under TPWD rules, but with an excellent-condition brass-frame replica most owners keep it for matches and the range. Note that our catalog lists the brand as Colt; the maker is Uberti.
