A 1934 Griffin & Howe sporter from the firm's New York City shop, made up on a Springfield 1903 National Match action and still wearing its 24-inch Star Gauge tube in 30-06 (serial 1367200, G&H number 1241). Sighting is a ramp-and-band front, a Lyman base at the rear, and a German Skopar B scope with post reticle held in a Stith mount that adjusts. The walnut stock is G&H's checkered pattern with horn tip, twin cross bolts, steel cap and checkered steel plate; bolt, follower and raceway show the early burnished treatment, and the flag safety was checkered to order.
The seller grades it honestly: moderate wear and finish loss, handling marks, a small chip behind the Lyman base, filler screws where a top scope once sat, and one plugged hole in the stock from an old sling stud. Light frosting in the bore, rifling good. A 30-06 bolt gun in shootable shape is legal for Texas deer under TPWD rules, so it can still hunt the general season.
