This M1 rifle in .30-06, serial 442, was assembled in the 1980s or 1990s on a Springfield Armory, Inc. receiver with USGI parts: a D35382 SA operating rod, a D28287-19SA A-5 bolt, a Type III lockbar rear sight, plus trigger group and wood furniture. The 24-inch Springfield barrel is dated January 1966, marked Geneseo, Illinois, and carries a National Defense Acceptance Stamp. The bore is bright with strong rifling. A Rat Worx reproduction gas cylinder gives it the look of an early Type 1 D28289 gas trap, though the rifle actually runs on a gas port. Used, SKU D2026-00521.
The gas trap appearance makes this a display and shooting rifle for Texas collectors of US service arms, and .30-06 is centerfire, so it is legal for deer in the 2026-27 general season, November 7 to January 3 in the North Zone and January 17 in the South Zone, plus hogs year-round. Check the TPWD Outdoor Annual for your county's rules.
