This Colt 1862 Pocket Navy is a .38 caliber cartridge conversion revolver, SKU C4699, in excellent used condition. Original nickel covers 95 to 97 percent of the frame, cylinder and barrel, and about 95 percent of the straps. The grips are excellent and keep 98 percent of their varnish. All numbers match. The supplier points out that the Pocket Navy conversion is scarcer than the 1849 Pocket conversion that turns up more often.

Texas collectors of Colt conversions will recognize the Pocket Navy frame as the harder one to find in this finish grade, and matching numbers with this much nickel put it in display territory. It is not a candidate for carry or defense; its value is as a complete, original example. Handgun transfers in Texas run through the dealer with no permit and no waiting period.
