A British Webley WG Target Model revolver, serial 126604, from about 1911, now set up in .22 caliber. The 7.5-inch octagonal barrel keeps about 90 percent of its blue with light scattered scratches, and the bore is bright with strong rifling. An A.G. Parker conversion kit, with its target sight and barrel sleeve, now stands in for the original .455 cylinder. The action indexes correctly and locks up tight.

The history travels with it: in 1914 the shooting club at Portsmouth Naval Barracks used it for training, and Major C.E. Etches bought it in 1923. A converted target Webley is a collector's gun first, but the .22 conversion means a Texas owner can still put it on paper at the range with inexpensive rimfire rather than hunting for .455 ammunition. It is sold on consignment.
