FN's 509 Fullsize MRD is a striker-fired 9mm duty pistol with a 4.5-inch cold hammer-forged barrel, 7.9 inches overall and 27 ounces, holding 17+1. The slide uses FN's Low Profile Optics Mounting System, and the package covers most red dots with four MRD plates while keeping fixed three-dot sights that co-witness. Three interchangeable backstraps adjust the polymer grip, a trigger safety is built in, and there is no manual safety. Two 17-round magazines, a soft case, manual and gun lock are included. The barrel has a recessed target crown to protect the rifling.

This is a home-defense and range pistol for Texas households that want a full grip, a long sight radius and a red dot without gunsmithing. The 17-round magazines ship as standard to a Texas address, the optic plates mean you are not tied to one dot footprint, and the backstraps let two people size the same gun. Full-size dimensions make it a holster pistol rather than a pocket one.
